Dr. Imdad
Haque Khan and his spouse Mrs. Sitara Khan established
The Khan Family Foundation in the United States of America
with the aim of providing financial assistance to the
meritorious but economically disadvantaged students
of Bangladesh to pursue their higher studies in science,
engineering and medical fields. The Foundation lays
emphasis on the students of higher secondary level and
lower grades in medical and engineering education.
Hailing from respectable Muslim families of Bangladesh
Dr. Imdad Khan and Mrs. Sitara Khan both received higher
education from the UK and USA. They have, as a matter
of fact, devoted their whole life to researching and
serving the humanity. After retirement they were involved
in real estate business and later embarked upon philanthropic
pursuits. The Foundation is committed to serving the
poor people of Bangladesh.
The Imdad-Sitara Khan Foundation has undertaken a scholarship
program. The program offered 120 scholarships in 2005
through SpaandanB and eventually will offer 480 scholarships
every year to the needy but very brilliant students
of Bangladesh. The couple realized that that there is
a bright prospect for the Bangladeshi students. The
poor but meritorious students of Bangladesh have already
proved that they can contribute a lot in every field
of science and education, provided they get chance to
explore their talent. The Khan Family Foundation has
come forward to provide them the opportunity. The scholarship
program launched by the Foundation will open a door
of opportunity for the ambitious but economically disadvantaged
students of Bangladesh.
The Foundation is committed to helping the poor people
of Asia and work for the betterment of their social
life. With that aim the Foundation has already sponsored
JRCASE, and a VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) R&D
Centre at East-West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh and
Jahangirabad Institute of Technology, India. The Foundation
is working with ORCA-USA (Old Rajshahi Cadets' Association,
USA Chapter) to establish five kidney dialysis centres
at Rajshahi, Kushtia, Bogra, Rangpur and Dhaka. The
Foundation has also set up a large number of computer
learning centres in different parts of Bangladesh.
