Utilization and Distribution of Zakat Fund
It's a great pleasure for Imdad-Sitara Khan Foundation (ISKF) to inform that in 2009 it has collected Zakat money to help the needy patients taking dialysis treatment at its centers. The drive taken before and during the holy month of Ramadan in Bangladesh and in the USA has resulted collection of a fund totaling Tk. 5,05,000.00 (Tk. Five lac five thousand) only.
Total Fund Available: Tk. 5,05,000.00
Tk. 3,00,000 Collected Locally before and during Ramadan 2009.
USA has Collected USD 3,000 (or Taka 2,05,000).
As per the decision of the Managing Director and subsequently decision taken at the EC meeting held on March 12, 2010, ISKF is going to use Zakat Fund to help poor and needy patients in its centers (proportionately as per their performance).
As per decision, Zakat money collected by any particular center will be used for the patients in that center. Money collected by any EC Members (if not particularized) will be distributed proportionately as per the performance of the center in last 6 months (this time from Sept '09 to Feb '10). ISKF has taken decision to distribute the amount among three centers ( Dhaka , Rajshahi and Bogra). Kushtia Center has been excluded for the time being as it's yet to be stabilized.
On this ground Dhaka Center gets 1, 05,000 as the Executive Director of Dhaka has collected 1,00,000 for his center and the Medical Officer of Dhaka Center has given her Zakat to the patients of Dhaka Center. The rest amount Tk.1, 95,000 (locally collected) + 2,05,000 (Received from USA ) = 4,00,000 is divisible among the three centers as per their performance.
As per record available at the Foundation the performance of above three centers on dialysis treatment during last 6 months is as follows:

To round up, ISKF has taken decision to distribute the amount (Tk. 4,00,000) as follows:
Dhaka Center 50%, Rajshahi Center 25% and Bogra Center 25%.
As such Dhaka gets 2,00,000 + 1,05,000 (collected on their own) = 3,05,000
Rajshahi gets Tk. 1,00,000
And Bogra gets Tk. 1,00,000
All together: Taka 5, 05,000 only.
How to make use of hard earned Zakat Money:
The Centers take decision on their own (in its local Committee/by the Director) to select the patients eligible to get Zakat. They also take decision on who gets free dialysis (and for how long) and who gets half-free (and for how long).
A member getting free dialysis will not be provided with any money receipt. The money receipt (marking free dialysis from Zakat fund) will be kept at the center for refund from ISKF at the end of the month. In case of half-free dialysis, the center provides the patient money receipt equivalent to the amount paid by the patient and issues second money receipt for ISKF mentioning the (free half) amount.
How to get Refund:
The Fund will be deposited centrally at ISKF. The Foundation is going to maintain the accounts for use of the fund. ISKF after every month will refund the centers on production on money receipts by the centers. The centers, on the other hand, keep the vouchers/money receipts intact and send them to the Foundation at the end of every month for refund. This continues till the fund gets exhausted. |
